Melbourne Art Foundation produces the annual Melbourne Art Fair, Australasia’s progressive forum for contemporary art and ideas. 

The Melbourne Art Foundation Commission Program provides a living artist with a rare opportunity to realise a large-scale work for unveiling at Melbourne Art Fair, and is later gifted to a prominent Australian institution.

Australasia’s most progressive forum for contemporary art and ideas, the annual Melbourne Art Fair presents work by new and iconic artists from the region’s leading galleries and Indigenous art centres. With a focus on solo shows and works of scale and significance, the fair is instrumental in shaping the future of art in the region.

In 2025 Melbourne Art Fair welcomes the showcase exhibition of the Victorian First Peoples Art and Design Fair, featuring the work of 20 unrepresented Victorian First Peoples artists, along with Kaiela Arts, Baluk Arts, Perridak Arts and The Torch. An initiative of the Victorian Government’s Creative State strategy and driven by the Creative Victoria First Peoples Directions Circle, the Victorian First Peoples Art and Design Fair aims to promote and build the market for the extraordinary work of Victoria’s First People creatives. The event will officially launch in 2027 and will be timed to coincide with the Melbourne Art Fair.
